Shoshin is a word from Zen Buddhism that means ‘beginner’s mind’. When I’ve talked about trust, one of the 5 tenets is commitment. Commitment is doing what you said you would do long after the time you’ve first said it. We are excited when we start something but that can quickly fade in the long term. When we have a beginner’s mind, we bring an attitude of openness, eagerness, and excitement to the task – just as a beginner would – and our commitment is enduring and stronger.
Here are some of my most popular articles to remind you of the 5 tenets of trust. See if you can bring shoshin into your trust relationships.
